Torchwood: Miracle Day

I was told that Starz aired the season premiere to a new series tonight (technically ‘last night’ seeing as how it’s almost 2am right now) called Torchwood. I decided to sit down and catch the ‘encore’. The episode was off to an interesting start… No deaths in 24 hours and it was being called “Miracle Day”.

Gonna be some spoilers beyond.

I thought it was downright creepy that people could get sick, gravely injured, mutilated and still live. When they revealed the result of the man who blew up the CIA archives, that was downright creepy. I also loved the helicopter chase on the beach. That was pretty nifty.

However, at the end of the episode, when Jack revealed that he was ‘cut’ and not healing – that he is now mortal and the world immortal – I get the feeling this is about to turn ‘campy’. I hit Google, did a search, and it turns out that this series is a spin-off of Doctor Who. I’ve never seen it but from some of the fans I know, they admit that Doctor Who is cheesy so…

I might watch a few more episodes of Torchwood but I don’t see myself sticking too long with it.
